Hans Zimmer did a Masterclass where he stated he hopes his listeners will say, “Forget about this guy chatting to me about how to do things, I am just going to go and do things.” Perhaps this was what lead composer Christophe Mathieu to re-score the first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Mathieu’s take deserves and view from every John Williams fan. With respect to what Williams has done with the franchise for the past four decades, Mathieu tells this old story in new ways that might have you think you’re watching the trailer for the first time, despite you probably seeing it two dozen.
